Dr. Oliver Grundmann is a Clinical Associate Professor with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a masters’ in Forensic Toxicology, and expert in the study of kratom. University of Florida College of Pharmacy, where Dr. Grundmann works, has been a recipient of nearly $7 million in NIDA grants in 2018 and 2019 for the study of kratom.

Are you studying the effects on people who are CYP2D6 UM? I have this chromosome abnormality and suffer at the hands of Doctors who don’t know anything about it and who don’t /won’t consider it in my treatments. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Debra. Thanks for your comment. Scientists are only beginning to study kratom’s effects on CYPs in general. In the Journal Club podcast that will be posted tomorrow we’ll be talking about this study which suggests inhibitory effects on multiple CYPs including CYP2D6.
