Kratom Methods Of Preparation

There are a few popular methods of using powdered leaf, but the most common are with capsules or tablets, “toss and wash”, mixing with food, and preparation as a tea. The following is a guide to help users discover their favorite way to enjoy kratom:

Kratom Capsules and Tablets

Kratom capsules have become one of the most common ways people now use kratom. You can find pre-capsuled kratom in almost any head shop in the US while some choose to buy empty 00 or 000 capsules and capsule their kratom for themselves.

It’s important to note that 00 capsules are much better suited for kratom extract (due to the necessary dosage concentration of approximately 1/2 a gram to 1 gram.

000 capsules are better suited for regular kratom powdered leaf. The increased size allows them to hold up to 1 gram of leaf per capsule, minimizing the amount needed for a regular dose.

Kratom Capsules

Toss and Wash

“Toss and wash” is basically just spooning the powder directly into your mouth and washing it down with a liquid. Kratom is known as a diuretic and is associated with dehydration. It is important when using this method that you hydrate. This could be with your favorite sports drink or you can just stick with water. The word hydrate comes from the Greek word for water, so its hard to find a better hydrating beverage.

This is commonly known as the most “difficult” method but is the quickest in a pinch and arguably gives some of the strongest effects.

The downside to this method is that the powder is incredibly dry and will stick to your mouth and throat, causing many to gag or cough “blow” the dry powder out of their mouth. If using this method of consumption, it is best to spoon small amounts at a time.

Mixing Kratom With Food

Kratom can also easily be mixed into a food.

ice cream and coffee prepOur favorites recipes include mixing with apple sauce or ice cream!

Other good suggestions include mixing with chocolate almond milk or chocolate protein powder.

Keep in mind that kratom has a strong flavor and may not mix well in certain foods. Also, you will not reduce the efficacy of kratom if you take it with small amounts of food or any of our recommended recipes.

  • Reddit User nicolio8699:
1/2 c vanilla yogurt (I used light & fit, but Greek would most likely be better because of its thicker consistency)
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    1 TBSP of powdered bali

Kratom Tea Preparation

Lastly, preparation as a tea is convenient and effective.

It is important to note that only powdered leaf should be used to make tea. Extracts should not be used.

Start by measuring out between 1 teaspoon of powdered leaf. Using an extract is not recommended, as the hot water may break down some of the alkaloids, there’s no added benefit, and it’s more expensive. Boil 2-4 cups of water. The more water you use, the less strong the flavor, but as long as you drink it all the effects will be exactly the same.

Put the kratom powder into a large cup or container with a pour lip, and pour the boiling water on top. Stir until it is thoroughly mixed. Be sure there aren’t any clumps of dry powder. I highly recommend adding sugar, artificial sweeter, or honey (honey works the best to cut the bitterness), and stir. If using artificial sweetener, 2 packets is a good starting amount. Let sit until cool (at least 15 minutes), stirring occasionally.

Once cooled, allow the powder to settle to the bottom. Pour the tea into a drinking cup, and enjoy! At this point you can add more sweetener to taste, or add water or ice cubes to dilute the flavor. As long as you drink all of the liquid, the effects will be the same.

User Tea Recipes (If you have a favorite recipe, feel free to send it to us to post!)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 spearmint teabag
  • 1 chamomile teabag
  • 2 teaspoons kratom
  • sugar, honey or artificial sweetener to taste
  • 1 teapot (I use something like this)

Double/triple/etc. the quantities to make a bigger batch.

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a kettle.
  2. Put both teabags and kratom in the teapot and pour boiling water over top.
  3. Let it steep for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Remove teabags.
  5. Put teapot in fridge and let it sit overnight. Kratom will settle to the bottom.
  6. In the morning, slowly pour the tea into a glass. Be sure to stop pouring once you notice the plant matter is about to come out of the spout. There will be a layer of kratom sludge left in the teapot—just dump it down the sink.
  7. Sweeten tea and drink! (I like to use two packets of Sweet’N Low.)
Kratom Tea Potentiators

In simple terms, a potentiator is an additive used to enhance the effects or duration of kratom’s alkaloids. People use potentiators to lower one’s kratom dose and/or make kratom more effective over longer periods of time. Many of these potentiators are full of additional health benefits and will forever change the way you make your own kratom tea. There are a countless number of kratom tea combinations that you can use to boost your drinks potency, lower kratom tolerance, and increase overall health benefits.

Coffee and Kratom

The Mitragyna Speciosa, or better known as Kratom, is a close relative in the Rubiaceae family tocoffee, a plant species that millions of people around the globe consume daily. People around the globe use coffee for a variety of reasons, and like Kratom, not all coffee drinkers fit one particular profile. What we can find however, is overlapping uses, similarities and benefits between the two closely related plants. For instance, both Coffee and Kratom users report consuming to obtain an energy boost, facilitate social interactions, aiding physical performance/stamina, improving focus and enhancing one’s mood. But why are some coffee drinkers substituting their morning routine for Kratom, and others finding that combining the two works as a perfect blend?

  1. Waitaminute! Hold the phone! People are just using a couple TEASPOONS of kratom in their tea or toss ‘n wash? I’ve been using 5-6 heaping tablespoons for one container of tea! I go through about 5 oz of kratom powder every 2 weeks using this method.

I honestly thought way more was required than anything in the teaspoon range. I choke down probably several grams of the stuff everyday. Color me confused o.O

    1. There is available in many larger grocery stores in the peanut butter section something which is a mixture of dark chocolate and peanut butter. It hides the flavor of the Kratom completely.

      OR

Also, if you get those little individual containers of applesauce in six packs. Take a bowl and empty one individual container of applesauce into it. Then fill that same empty container full of kratom powder. This makes a one to one mixture. One part applesauce to one part Kratom. Mix it up well. Using a large fork makes this much quicker.

Empty the completely mixed mixture on a cookie sheet and spread it around. Let it dry. The result will be small chunks of the dried material. However now ever single tiny individual piece of Kratom powder also has a covering of the invisible applesauce. With the water evaporated it pretty much like a extra super fine covering of sugar. It takes away the bitter taste completely.

It can be stored with no refrigeration or just like a dried apple. As long as it is dry it will not rot, can not.

You can either take very small chunks and swallow them like they were pills with water or break the chunks down smaller and take a spoonful ofthe kratom power and then a drink of whatever liquid you like You will experience a miracle! The extra dry texture is gone, the bitter taste is gone, after taste is gone. It’s becomes a totally different experience.

If you want the preparation to be more powdery add more applesauce. If you want it more chunky add less applesauce.

Either the sandwich or the mixture will change your life. Those of you familiar with a fluffernutter can make one by adding marshmallow creme on one side of the bread and make a sandwich with the choclate/peanut butter on the other. The cholate can absorb almost as much kratom as you can succesfully add to it. You may find you eat these for the flavor so be careful they can be addicting in more ways.

I was in horrible pain in my facial area caused by something that no one could figure out. I had everything checked out including taking three MRIs with and without contrast to find the reason for the pain. No one could figure out what I had from five doctors and specialists. Without a diagnoses I could not be referred to a pain doctor nor could they suggest any treatment.

So for one year every four hours around the clock I took all three major forms of Over The Counter pain pills. Acetemetephan, naproxen sodium and Ibuprofen. Three to four of each every four hours and I know that is WAY more then the directions suggest and beyond safe. My stomach was a mess and I was quickly on my way to a bleeding ulcer. I didn’t care! Without the OTC meds I would sometimes scream in frustration because of the type of pain, my quality of life was a one and my nice friendly personality changed to a short tempered sharp spoken jerk.

I tried Kratom and it removed ALL the pain within a couple days. It increased motivation and changed my world. And it’s a freaking plant alone, no weird man made medicine or creation in a laboratory. It is not a recreational drug and does not get me ‘high’. That idea is crazy.

Some natural easily grown plant has given me back my life and the side effects of the pain being removed is more energy, motivation and a clearer mind. I can deal with those side effects.

Great info, Roy!! Thanx!! Feel better about trying it now. Ive been researching, but u cannot trust the forums to b correct for others as it is for another. Im just looking for RELIEF! !! PERIOD! Thanks again Roy, but please b careful too as i have read that u should test ur liver… build up can cause jaundice. Enjoy ur newfound ease!!! Im with u!!

    2. I don’t get any effects from Kratom so far. I have Maeng Da and Red Veined Bali. My husband and daughter both got ill from the Red at about 1 1/2 g, but I’ve taken 3x that much trying to get relief from chronic pain, and so far nada.

My guess is, there are some people who just don’t respond the same. I’ve never gotten high from an opioid and I don’t get drunk. (I don’t normally drink but when I do I’m just not affected by it. ) I’d gladly take pain relief without any high.

      1. You aren’t hearing about the people that need 20-30 grams at a time. Believe me, it works – you just aren’t taking enough.

Everytime I eat a frigging pile of kratom I think of all the people that can eat 2 grams and get buzzed, makes me super jealous lol

      2. Yes I have the same powerful liver that destroys alcohol…you need stronger kratom, like from 7ohm or one of the guys that knows what they’re doing

    3. It looks like I will also go through 5+ oz of kratom every 2 weeks. I don’t have a scale or measuring spoons. With whatever spoons I have, I put kratom in a dry cup, then add maybe an inch of cold tap wqater. I stir a bit, but mostly set the cup aside or in fridge; after ~an hour or less, I stir up the HOH and kratom mix (h2o is HoH), drink the thick mix, then add 1/2 cup HOH and stir it until the cup is free of kratom “pasties” and drink it. All done. I wash the cup & spoon right then: why not. The taste? Get over it! It’s medicine from a jungle.

  2. I can’t believe that I am no longer craving opiates. For 7 years all I thought about everyday was how am I going to get my fix today. After 1 month of kratom I have not had a single thought of using. The kratom has healed me from my nasty opiate addiction. I usually take about 10-15 grams a day. One dose in the morning, another in the afternoon and then 1 more at nighttime. I’ve never felt better. Kratom is a god send. I’m thinking daily that I’m finally on the path of healing. This plant is saving lives and will continue to do so. Thanks for all the support and great people that are on my same path. Kratom has saved my life!!

    1. Hi,im going to try and use kratom to beat my heroin addiction, im jus wonder the best way to start it after my last shot of heroin if u could give me an idea of how much to drink how offten as to stay away from full on heroin withdraw. Thanks

      1. i have come off of almost anything you could name and this is so healthy and trying to get off of any substance is a step in the right direction. you just eat capsule and wait 15-25 min see how you feel keep on till withdraw simptoms are gone and then you know how much to take every day . then you can slowly lower kratem dosage. by 0.5 grams / day or one capsule less. every other day or however you feel. !

      2. Jimi if you on H you’ll have to use a lot of Kratom I think. Everyone is different. My wife and I are heavy pill poppers. Tramadol, Vicodin, Percs, Oxy’s all of them, Morph, etc. If we don’t have 10 100mg Trams per day where in WD’s. For me I need 9grams of kratom per every 4-6hrs. My wife needs 11grams. Only way to choke it down is to blend 2oz of OJ with 2oz of Pineapple juice, then take one of those lemon juice concentrate plastic ball juice thingamabobs you get from any store and squirt for 10 to 15 seconds into your concoction. It works! I use Maeng Da, mixed with Red Thai, and Super Indo. Basically just use a Red, but buy a lot you’ll need more than you think!

      3. Jimi,
I just started Kratom a few weeks ago. I’m an old dope fiend who has been on suboxone for several years now. I finally threw my hands up and called it quits with the subs. As you already know, going 100 to 0 isn’t a wise choice. I take about 15 grams a day (probably 3 grams 5 times a day). I don’t know how your habit is right now but give that a shot and adgust from there. Good luck kid.

      1. I’m finding so many people trying to come off meds of all op idiots. Some started with the help of a well meaning Dr. Mine started because of. Diabetic neuropathy. First. Perc 10 then I became a problem it was then pm then the street .you know the rest thank you God for kratom.

  3. That tea looks much better than mine! I add honey sometimes to sweeten but usually I just use room temp water and swirl it around and down it to get it in fast! Personally i’ve found it doesnt matter if i make a hot tea or not as far as effects go. thanks for the info!

  4. I live with pain & discomfort most of the time. I have lupus and complications from medicine that I’ve taken for it over the years made me realize I have to find something else. Doctors have worsened my problem with surgery. Their solution is nothing but physical therapy that usually hurts too much. I’m thrilled to discover Kratom! It helps so much that I can actually function without feeling the fatigue I used to have with the drugs I would take. I try different strains when I can and most of them help. I make 00 capsules, take six on an empty stomach (when I wake up) and it usually keeps the pain away most of the day. If I find I’m becoming immune to the dosage, I stop taking it for a few days (even if I have to lay in bed most of the day).
I don’t find it addicting whatsoever. I don’t want to build up a tolerance and then have to take more. I’m fine with the dosage I take. Sorry to say, the government is always looking for ways to railroad organic methods we can freely use to help ourselves 🙁 So let’s do what we can to try and keep this legal!

    1. DOING TIME, I FEEL UR PAIN! HAVE JUST HERD ABOUT KRATOM AND HAVE SEVERAL QUESTIONS. WOULD LIKE TO DICUSS THIS WITH U. I’M A CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT ALSO. MY EMAIL IS [email protected] DON’T CHECK IT EVERYDAY OR WEEK BUT IF I HEAR FROM U I WILL RESPOND. WILL TELL YA MY MEDICATION ISSUES THEN. THANKS JAMES

  5. I’ve found an extremely easy and quick-to-prepare method, which nearly completely removes all taste and is very easy to swallow:

    – Mix with a small amount of olive oil, stir until no powder remains (<1 minute)

    That's it.

    1. Bit confused about how you can get multiple tablespoons of Kratom into enough olive oil to make it easy to swallow or mix? How much Kratom to how much olive oil? Thanks, Jana

      1. This is a great discovery. Might even be able to perfect this idea with a little twist of molecular gastronomy. After integrating the kratom into the olive oil completely, you could probably then mix in maltodextrin, Maltodextrin has a unique property when it comes in contact with any liquid food fats. The reaction results in the liquid fat forming into little balls of a semi-solid substance which is stable at room temperature but when they come back into contact with a liquid, such as saliva, it immediately dissolves back into its liquid state.

I’ve used this trick to make chili oil crumbles for my Chinese recipes. Could be very interesting and useful way to integrate the kratom into a variety of dishes which may be enjoyable while mitigating the undesirable taste from the kratom.

  6. I haven’t been using kratom very long at all: in February this year (yes, it is still 2015 here) I got twenty capsules, and four samples of meng da powder. I took the tablets very occasionally, with good, calming results.

However, after a painfully embarrassing discovery about myself, I have decided to use kratom for health reasons.

Basically, I had a good hard look at myself and realised that over the last eight years (since my husband’s death) I have increased my alcohol intake year on year and month by month. I sat and thought about it and realised that I could not remember the last time I hadn’t drunk at least a bottle of wine a day. It’s been a year or two at least. And it was no longer even making me tipsy, so I had increased even from that, to the point where I could drink two bottles of red wine before anyone could notice I had too much to drink.

Also, I recently shifted to spirits – always telling myself when I bought a bottle that it was a sensible investment because I wouldn’t drink it as quick. And yet two or three days later it was all gone.

Well, I scared myself. Over Christmas, I bought three bottles of spirits and one bottle of wine for Christmas day. I was looking all over the house for the wine, convinced I must have just misplaced it. Then I found the empty bottle in my bedroom and realised I must have drunk it and just blacked out or something. (Needless to say, the three bottles of spirits that I bought on the 23rd of December and had been carefully meting out were all gone by the end of Christmas day.)

And I’m still nervous about using the word of myself, but I suspect I might have become an alcoholic.

The problem is that I am ashamed to go to my doctor because I already have a mental health condition (bipolar) and I don’t want him to write me off as just another addict. The mental health is bad enough – addiction is even worse socially. It is the kind of thing that stays in your notes forever and will affect how the medical services treat you for the rest of your life.

So – I’ve been using the kratom (hence my finishing my twenty pills) and found that they do genuinely help stave off the cravings for booze. It might not sound like much, but it’s five days since I last had a drink. (I’ve been resisting the temptation just to go out and buy some – why does it have to be everywhere?)

Since the pills ran out, I have been using the powdered kratom and have ordered some online (which should be here Saturday – Monday at the latest. Bank holidays have messed with my post, but I have a tracking number and can see that it is on its way.) My supplies will hold out till then.

What I want to ask is – have other people taken this route to get themselves off alcohol? How successful have you found it? I’ve not left the house since Boxing Day to remove myself from temptation. I never go to a shop without at least buying a bottle of wine. In my village, there are two shops at each end. I have got used to walking from one end of the village to the other so that nobody sees me buying two bottles of wine a day (that should have given me a clue that I’m alcoholic. Wow, that is getting easier to say.)

I want to know that I’ll be able to leave the house and resist the temptation of alcohol. I think I’m nearly there (the nausea and bad taste in my mouth have passed though I’ve been dreaming about drinking, which is annoying.) I have to go back to work next Wednesday. I just can’t tell anyone in my family or any of my friends that I have a drinking problem (though they may have guessed.) So, I’m going to tell them that I am on a strict diet. I’m probably going to have to avoid social functions for a while, or invitations to dinner. My girlfriend has a good selection of wines and spirits available, stored in easy access in her kitchen. So, dammit, I can’t go there for a while. (I’m probably going to have to tell her at least.)

So – which blends are the best to keep me steady and calm in the day? Which are best to help me sleep at night? And given that I obviously have an addictive personality how do I avoid becoming dependent on kratom? I accept that I may have to be on it for a long time and that when I have more courage, I will probably have to join AA. (Though I understand they would object to my using one drug to overcome another.)

So – what should I do? I’ve ordered meng da to use in the day, and a blend for night time. The source I am getting it from is very reputable (they are the ones I ordered from before.)

The problem is – I know that already I am using more than is advised. I’m telling myself it is just to get me past a rough patch, and maybe I am right. But I’ve taken three lots today and it’s just – I’ve only been taking this regularly since Boxing Day. What do I do? How many times should I take this a day? How many types should I have so that I can switch to prevent tolerance from building up?

Also, how could I have been so damn stupid as to get addicted to alcohol?

Sorry guys. I know that someone will be able to help me.

    1. Hey cathy, saw your post and had to respond! First off it is awesome that youve recognized you have a problem and are trying to do something about it. That is a huge step. It happens to more people than you imagine and most never have the courage to even admit it to themselves. Ive been sober 9 months now, and ive learned a TON about kratom, AA and just about anything out there to help one kick the booze. Kratom has definitely helped but its not a cure by any means. Theres lots id like to tell you but this message boards gonna be clunky so I just made an anonymous gmail, email me when you see this: [email protected]
Ive gotten so much help from other folks who’ve quit Id love to pass it on if I can.

    2. If ur trading one substance for another you’re not correcting anything. You have an addictive personality.

Also, almost every American is addicted to one substance or another. If not substance then activity. Don’t be ashamed. I say American because I’m not sure of other places but everyone I’ve ever come in contact with is hooked on something.

It’s on to use science to better your life and relieve anxiety and depression. I take kratom for pain. It’s nice not to feel pain or do opiates. But I still feel pain without it. I’m dependent on something to feel not broken. That’s OK. A doctor would prescribe me opiates but this is better. Don’t be embarrassed to be human but definitely don’t be ignorant and think kratom is a cure for alcoholism. It’s an alternative, a much better one too. Alcohol is extremely rough on the body. Kratom doesn’t seem to be, even after you stop and I’ve taken it for 6 years.

      Good luck!

      1. That is exactly my thoughts on the subject. Nice to hear someone else say it, too. I’m pretty sure the op is from England, considering they’re talking about “Boxing Day” (it’s mostly a British holiday). You’re totally right about most people being addicted to something, be it drugs, hobby, or even sobriety, lol. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, it’s just that some addictions are more “socially acceptable” and others are socially “reprehensible”, but 99.9% of those addictions AREN’T reprehensible, & in fact don’t hurt anyone but the person addicted, but besides that, everyone acts like addiction is such an easy thing to just overcome or avoid, and I can say with complete confidence that the only people who think it’s the simple & easy, are people who have never been addicted to anything bad at all yet, or they’re people who don’t even realize the things they’re addicted to. It’s not a mental thing most of the time, either. Your body can become addicted to tylenol (oh and don’t get me started on the amount of overdoses of acetaminophen, which is in tylenol) & give you headaches if you don’t take it, if you’ve been taking it too often. People won’t freak out & force you into rehab or fire you for it, but it’s exactly the same thing.

The truth is most of us don’t start using any sort of medication or substance without an actual reason, which is usually due to self-medication because doctors are freaking useless & just in the pockets of pharmacy companies (who believe me, pay them in more ways than you can imagine), and they’ll peddle whatever they are being told to peddle to you, with no regard to whether or not you actually need it or if it will help.

Some of us aren’t able to cope with suffering like some of us do, and physical pain isn’t something you can just overcome & deal with if it’s chronic & there’s no way to fix it. Anyone in pain will want to help relieve that pain, or they wont be able to function normally. So why the hell should I be demonized, or anyone else, for wanting to function, or have a normal life again, in which maybe we can walk somewhere, or go to the grocery store, or take a shower without wanting to kill yourself because it hurts so bad & you’re so weak. Some of us just aren’t as strong as other people, and we shouldn’t be punished for it. There’s nothing we can do about it, so give us a break.

Anything that helps you to get off of a horrible substance like alcohol has to be a good thing, specifically when Kratom is virtually harmless. They think it’s fit to give heroin addicts methadone, which is WAY worse than this, and it’s legally acceptable & agreed upon by society as a solution. What makes me really angry is the amount of people probably on opiate-based pain killers who are forced into rehab situations & not given anything to help prevent seizures, or ease the suffering a bit, and that is CRUEL.

There’s barely anything as painful as withdrawal from opiates when you’ve been taking them a long time. It’s like you’re laying there & you can’t move, but you feel restless, and there’s a endless group of people surrounding you, beating you senseless with tubesocks filled with rocks, all over your entire body, as hard as they can. You’re hot, you’re cold, you’re sweating & you wish you could die. Why would anyone want another person to have to feel like that when they can help them?

Just imagine what clinics could do if they were able to just use Kratom in their therapies. They might actually do something & help people. But no, it wouldn’t make pharmaceutical companies tons and tons and tons of money, even if they manufactured it themselves, and they couldn’t patent that shit, and because hospitals & doctors only seem to care about money money money, well they rely heavily on kickbacks, incentives, gifts, “lunches” etc, this wont ever happen. We need a massive overhaul of the medical systems & how things are done with regard to patient care. It’s a freaking racket….. and honestly, sometimes I really think that labeling people like us as addicts & mentally ill is just an easier way to discredit us to other people & keep us down, because they don’t like the way we are, or what we say & how we feel. They deem anyone not fitting into a repressed box as mentally ill. Makes it easier for them to “keep us in check”…..

        1. Beautifully said. I was on 300mg of morphine per day(rx) moved to WA state in October 2016 and was cut off completely, resulting in massive grand mal seizures and hospitalization. Then my partner heard about Kratom. After nearly dying, brain damage and untold pain Kratom set me back on the road to the one thing I wanted….a “normal” life. Anyone who wants my opinion or help can email me at [email protected]. peace

        2. Jimi, just do it. Take a heaping tablespoon. I believe you’ll be good. Maeng da is good! I get the premium, just now saw there’s a “super”. I’ve been doing the toss and wash since August 10 of this year. I’m just now getting good as it gets, at it, I don’t think anyone truly master’s this method. Get the water going good, keep the water coming as you try to push as much as the kratom down as you can. Or stir it up good.
I wish someone with more knowledge and experience would write you. My apologies if I missed it. One thing I can tell you. It works. I was on methadone for over 10 years. You will be pleasantly surprised. I believe it to be a genuine Godsend.

          1. i also have fibro and became heavily addicted to the painkillers i was being prescibed..i spent a few years on H after that because my tolerance to the opiate drugs was too expensive kratom has saved my life in so many ways i am no longer an addict with debilitating pain and my anxiety and panic attacks that kept me in my house for 5 years are gone i feel like a completely new person! im actually happy for the first time in as long as i can remember and pain free! i just pray and hope the fda and dea dont take away the only supplement to ever help me

      2. Hello…
Hope this finds all in the best of spirits.
        So, long story short.
I unknowingly got a medically induced disease at 22. Luckily I had a lot of symptoms but not a lot if pain. That is until 2007 and a minor car accident brought out the disease adhesive arachnoiditis. By the time I actually got a diagnosis of was in the last stage of it. I’m now in bed 95%of time and this has pretty much since I was 35.
Anyone in pain will understand this. Damn-it….I’m not suppose to turn on myself. I’m the one human I should be able to count on.( I got over that and the fact a Dr. Gave me this disease, and it’s one of the top ten most painful) I was a person who didn’t even take Tyleno,l and now, I could not live without opiates.
I won’t list all my medications, but unfortunately I’m the person on most drugs at pain management. I need help!!
A Dr. Who specializes in arachnoiditis suggests kratom.
My question is how much and what kind works for pain? I bought a sample pack from reputable distributor. Any other suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

      3. Wow, great post reply! Keep ip yhe good work, and do not forget, if at first u dont succeed ,try, try again!! Never ever b ashamed of bettering urslf!!!! U go ppl!!

      4. If you’re going to trade one addiction for another, at least mitigate the problem.
Since you can’t die from an overdose of Kratom, and because it’s less expensive, it is a better bet.

    3. Saw your post and saw myself in you….I am an alcoholic – always will be. I’ve been sober for more than two years now. I am also bipolar (diagnosed and treated). I use kratom daily. It helps alleviate my desire to drink. Over time, I learned that my drinking correlated to my level of depression. For me, kratom is a mood enhancer and significantly relieves my depression.

I only use Thai and most often the extract. I simply fill “00”capsules and take about 1.5 grams at a time, about 3 times a day. If you build a tolerance, back off the dose for a day or so and your tolerance will go down enough to recoup the effects of your dosing. Kratom withdrawals results in increased anxiety for me so just be aware of that.

I think it’s very wise and strong of you to recognize your problem with alcohol. I also treat my alcoholism with a steady dose of spirituality (for me, it’s time with my God) every single day. You can stay sober. All your thoughts about changing your “people, places and things” are right-minded. Your life is worth all those hard changes.

In my opinion, kratom is a natural and useful tool for people like you and I. Good luck

    4. I had a similar problems and stopped drinking because of the onset of an auto immune disease. This is what worked for me: Google Reboot with Joe. He is the Aussie who made the film “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”. He tells you in detail how to go on a month long juice fast. For me, this cleaned out my whole system and I have not craved alcohol or had a drink in five years, after drinking heavily for more than twenty years.

Addiction to food is as strong as alcohol. Keeping busy with making juice and getting vegetables keeps your mind off alcohol. Plus your need for food comes to the front and you spend most of your mental focus on food. I have been using Kratom for nearly two years. White vein Borneo helps with pain and gives lots of energy, plus fights depression.

Hope this helps and you try to juice fast, even for a week at a time. Good luck to you!

    5. I feel you. I am sober 9 years and am interested in kratom for pain, high blood pressure, and of course, feeling good. Please don’t torture yourself worrying about how much you’re using. If you have a broken leg (suffering, depression, issues, whatever) you use a crutch, would you tell someone with a broken leg to try to walk without the crutch? If the kratom helps you avoid alcohol, function in daily life, and work on your issues (which you should do-I LOVE AA) then use it. I was a shambling wreck when I detoxed from alcohol, had a seizure after 3 days, and was a helpless, crazy wreck for months. Luckily I found people in AA who helped me, actually ran errands with me, helped me with everything. That’s good people. Anyway, let kratom help you function and avoid alcohol and get other help as well.

    6. Cathy, You aren’t stupid, you have a neurobiological disorder that makes your life harder than most; and 60-80% of those with bipola also have Substance Abuse problems at times. IMPT! Do please tell your MD or RN what you are taking, alcohol or kratom or valerian — it can be affect how your meds work. If they aren’t willing to treat you well and help you, find another MD!

    7. Thank you for sharing your story; it’s given me hope! My guy is an alcoholic and has received an ultimatum from his kids: one more bottle and you lose us and your grandchildren.

The fact that he’s trying to wean himself off it by drinking the same amount but half the proof (40acv instead of 80) means nothing to them. He’s extremely fatigued since making this change, but is sticking with it.

After reading that kratom might help with easing his cravings, his depression , and his low energy level, I ordered some. He’s looking forward to starting it!

Anyway , your post makes me more hopeful than any articles I’ve read.

May I ask if it improved your appetite? He barely eats.

  7. I use 2 well packed teaspoons of powder in a small pill bottle with lemon and lime juice, cinnamon, ginger, honey, brown sugar, pinch of salt, coconut milk and a bit of spiced rum. The consistency is perfect for a shot and it actually tastes great! I usually shake the hell out of it and let it sit about 30 mins. Skip on the rum and use water if you like it is about the same.

    1. Hello I tried a simolar approach for prep. Only, I use an Icetea mix with a shot oft lemon jukce and Rhum, the spiced one adds a nice flavor. Just put a GOOD tablespoon of Kratom (I vary with different sorts) put in the cap oft the sal medic bottle and shake well. It Gastes not Bad, I even got used to it😁📈

  8. I mostly just toss ‘n’ wash but if I don’t, I make a tea. I use chai spices and turmeric. Most of the chai spices are nervines, which is beneficial since I take kratom for nervous system stress and anxiety. The pepper (red/white/black) and turmeric are potentiators, so I hear.

I don’t filter anything and just down the sludge at the bottom of the cup to make sure I get everything; I’m a fan of ingesting the plant matter and whole form of herbs I take. The recipe works well filtered as well though steeping time should be considered. Since I ingest all of the herbs and spices, I don’t let it steep longer than a minute.

    1/2 tsp ground ginger
    1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground white pepper (black works fine but the white is much smoother in texture and assimilates better, in my experience)
1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper (I use African Bird Chiles for extra heat but it is way too hot for most)
    1/4 tsp ground cardamom
    1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground turmeric (fresh turmeric, macerated or juiced, adds a wonderful flavor)
1g to 1.5g kratom powder (I will use a green variety for the morning or a red variety in the evening, depending)

Heat water to just under boiling, pour over spices/herbs in mug or pot, let steep for a 1 – 5 minutes, strain if you’d like, and enjoy with your favorite sweetener and/or cream/milk/whatever. Effects usually kick in after fifteen minutes or so.

    1. This is a great recipe! I’m surprised more folks don’t consider the Kratom-Chai combo, it totally works. Even a modified version of this can override the harsh Kratom taste. For a quick tea, I’ll do:
      3 Grams Kratom
shake of cinnamon (use “True Cinnamon” not Cassia for two reasons *)
1/8 tsp cardamom (freshly crushed with mortar and pestle, the pre powdered spice is very weak)
      pinch of ground cloves
sweeten with Stevia and or honey
      some creamer of your choice
      * Reason 1 – Cassia contains large amounts of coumarin which is hard on your liver,
Reason 2 – Cassia turns into a disgusting mass of sludge in the bottom of your cup after awhile.

  9. My method for making tea is as follows.

50g favored strain, or mixed strains.

Place in pot with 8c of water. Bring water to a simmer. Allow to simmer for ten mins.
One amazing thing about kratom as opposed to other opiates is that heat does not degrade the alkaloids, as in poppy based opiates.

Allow mixture to sit in warm pot for another ten minutes after you turn the heat off….best to use gas stove.

Take a glass container, put your tea strainer with titration paper (coffee filter will work) and slowly pour through the filter.

Drink some…just remember this will be very potent.

  10. The best way to take Kratom, in my multiple experiences, is with kefir. Kefir is a liquid yogurt product with more benefits than yogurt alone. More probiotics, tastes great and mixes with kratom like they were meant for each other. I use Clover brand organic kefir, blueberry is my fave, which I can get at my local market and always at Safeway. Makes it tastes real good and the fats help assimilate it.

    1. Agreed – I have been using kefir to mix with Kratom for over a year, and it works perfectly, with virtually no lumps or dry chunks. I use a small wide-mouth plastic bottle with a screw top (about 8oz., the kind individual servings of milk/juice are sold in) to shake the mixture. It tastes great, and makes it very easy to store a few mixed portions for travel.

  11. Kratom Resin is very easy to make but a little time consuming as not to destroy the alkaloids that are heat sensitive!. Water boils at 212F but it takes more heat than that to destroy the alkaloids s if you dont bring it to a rumbling boil you will not destroy the 3 major alkaoids. All renderings should be carried out as close to STP,( Standard Temp and pressure), as possible. Standard Temp is 72 F and pressure approx 39.5″ of Mercury on the Barometer.
    1) Weigh 40g of your favorite Kratom. You can mix them up for a unique experience if you get used to
    Individual strains!!
    2) Use a good coffee maker that doesn’t make coffee real fast. This seems like a good quality in a
coffee maker but in making K resin its not good. You will have to run too much water over it if your
    coffee maker is too fast.
    3) Put 10 cups water in your carafe with juice of 1/2 lemon. This will leave you with approx 6 c rich
kratom extract. Pour this in another container to cool. (DO NOT USE PLASTIC). Repeat this with
the original kratom in your coffee maker.. Let this cool also
    4) Pour both cooled decants into a large metal container. Add 6 c of distilled water. (Use distilled H20
    in step 3 also.)
    5) Measure the depth of decant in your container.
    6) Bring to a slight boil until 1/2 of decant is gone.
    7) Add 4 c of distilled H2O.
    8) Bring to a slight boil until the depth is approx. 1/8 inch.
    9) Pour the liquid off into a smaller metal container and evaporate down to a thick resin.
    10) Add 1 packet “Stevia”

and evaporate t a thick goo. Careful not to burn as it gets thicker.
    11) When it gets to desired thickness. Take it off to cool.
    12) While still warm add 20 drops glycerin. Stir well and you are done.
    13) keep refrigerated. Do not freeze. You will never get it out when you need it.

Weigh your final product. Make sure to weigh your final evaporation container, before use, so you
can get an approx. weight of final product. To get closer weigh 20 drops of glycerin and add to
final weight. ex. 40g kratom starting weight. 6g final weight. 40/6=7 rounded to nearest whole#.

This means you have a 7X Resin so take accordingly. Divide what you would take in powder kratom
by 7 and this is how many grams of resin to take!!!
